A new project

I picked up a couple of new projects this weekend, one is a laptop that needs a little updating and some more ram installed. The people who own it need it updated so it can run one of those wireless internet cell cards, it will not run it at the moment.
The other new project will be updating a website for the Church, the website hasn't been touched in a while and needs some updating, nothing huge, just some additions.
I'd really like a cup of coffee at the moment.....HOWEVER it is far too late to do so.
Have a great one!

Old gnarly finally falls

So, it was a nice day today! Near everyone was over for dinner and we had some fun, one friend came over for dinner and another brought his family up to the lake for the weekend! It was Nice! The trailer was already clean so all I had to do was kick back and relax! HOW NICE!
My Niece and Nephews came up today, my sister and I took them on a walk in the woods along with a friend, it was REALLY nice, the trails had finally dried up! No more HUGE puddles of mud to contend with and no more herding the kids away from them either! I was able to get some nice pictures while I was walking, I was able to get a picture of “old gnarly’s” grave also, that is an old tree in the woods that had a ton of “masses” on it, the tree final fell this last winter.
I received a call from my aunt today telling me that her computer would not go on line? After checking her I.P. information I figured the problem was in her laptop, that was NOT the case! The modem was throwing up false information and telling me it was on line when in fact it was NOT! I restarted the modem and back on line we were. I decided to do some cleanup on the laptop also, it had been running for seven months with NO maintenance at all, SO! I ran disk cleanup………..8.8Gig……that is how much needed to be cleaned up in the system! HOLY COW! The most I’d seen up till today was 2Gig? Then I wiped all the cookies and installed AdAware and Spybot Search and destroy, they found and fixed 21 other problems and the machine ran MUCH better!I also cranked the virtual ram up to 4095 from 1250, that helped the system speed also, it ran like new once again!
I started the day out like it should be started, two HOT cups of coffee and a sweet snack! OH YEAH! I needed it though, I had taken both Pseudoephedrine and Diphenhydramine, that combination completely wipes me out, I needed the caffeine to wake me up!
I should head off for now, I am feeling a BIT tired from the day.
Sounds funny eh?

It begins!

The weekend is begining for me today! YES! a three day weekend!
My Mon and sister will be coming over tomorrow to help make dinner for Saturday, most of the family will be there and we will need a BIG dinner to feed all 15 of us, LOTS of food!
I really should finish the brakes on my Bravada, I still need to bleed a bit of air out of it and I need to free the calipers in the rear, both have rusted up because of setting for months before I picked it up.
I should head off for now, 3:30am can=me EARLY today and I REALLY need coffee!
See ya!

Progressive dinner

O, so a little more about that progressive dinner....... I must have been around 13 when it happened, there were like three or four houses, at each house you would have a different meal, desert, appetizer.....and so on!
The dinner was really nice, and of course different also?

That meatloaf glaze recipe I gave yesterday? my sister had a GOOD idea that I am going to try! Instead of using catchup I am going to use tomato paste, something different that sounds good?

Nothing too interesting today........well not really? I have a new plant manager now, I worked with her a few years ago and I don't mind working with her again at all. There have been MANY changes at the plant in the last month or so, some not so pleasant but most were OK, change is good! Once everything is all said and done I think things will be MUCH better than they are at the moment.

This weekend I am making two large lasagnas! OH MOMMA! LOL! My mom and sister will be helping make them so they should be done quickly I HOPE!

Later for now!

Food, fun and memories

The weekend was nice , I cooked lunch for the family Saturday, meatloaf and mashed potatoes and black olives were on the menu! YUM! there were 14 of us there this weekend and dinner was nice! My mom, sister and sister in law all made or brought a dish also, so there was PLANTY of food for all with only a little left over. Leftover meatloaf sandwiches! YUM!!

Meatloaf for 16:
5 Lbs of beef
1 LARGE green pepper diced into small pieces
4 Ounces of dried onion
2-4Ounce cans mushrooms drained and diced into small pieces
6 Eggs
5 cups Rolled Oats
Garlic to taste
*combine all the ingrediants and cook for one hour at 350 degrees.
**I use a rectangular cake pan and form a round loaf instead of using a bread pan.
***45 minutes into the cook time drain the grease and add the glaze.

Meatloaf glaze:
1/2 cup ketchup
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 tsp. lemon juice
1 teaspoon mustard powder
3 tsp. Tabasco chipotle salsa (use sparingly and to taste! this stuff can be HOT for those who do not appreciate spicey sauces)
*mix ingrediant and warm gently to melt the sugar.
**45 minutes into the cooking time drain the grease off the meatloaf and coat the meatloaf with the glaze.

Mashed potato's W/ skins for 16:
5Lbs. Klondike Gold Potoato's
1 Cup+/- of butter
Garlic to taste
*cut potato's into chunks (leaving the skin on) and cook till tender, drain and add butter and garlic to taste.
**You can also use Olive oil to replace some of the butter, and Italian seasoning will change the flavor also.

Gravy:
The grease drained from the meatloaf
The liquid from the Potato's
1/2 cup of flour
3/4 cup of cold water
*Combine grease and potato water and bring to a boil, in a seperate cup add flour and cold water and mix, then add flour paste to boiling liquid and heat till thickened.
**You can add garlic or any other spice to give the gravy a kick.

YA! I enjoy cooking! it is VERY relaxing for me.
Later for now!

Memories:
An old memory came floating back to me this week, I must have been like 11 or 12, there were four or five churches that had gotten together for an Awana event, while I do not remember much about the event itself I do remember that afterword everybody spent the night at Shilo community church. It was a "lock-in" even with both the boys and girls "try that these days, you'd raise an eyebrow or three!" It was fun! there were more games and plenty of pizza, soda and junk food! YUM!
It's nice when I remeber things like this, pleasant old memories that float through your mind and run aground once in a while.

Out of sync.

It seems that I am out of sync at the moment, at the moment I have three day weekend to play with, the only problem is I end up coming home on Saturday night because I keep forgetting to get my laundry done! DOH! I can't go to church in dirty clothes can I?
I did have a nice weekend for the most part, a family behind my parents camper decided to do the "Family feud" thing Friday night....IDIOTS! It is just too bad that people can't play nice, they expect their kids to don't they?
Time to head off for now, coffee calling even though it is late.
Have a great one!

Last day of the week

I am hoping that the day goes QUICKLY! It is the last day of the week! YES! I am NOT sure what I want to do for the weekend yet but I do know I want to finally finish the Bravada! I've been trying to finish it for a month now but things keep coming up, maybe this weekend? COULD be!
I worked in an E-coat pit for a few hours yesterday, I will be there once again today! Time to replace some pieces parts! To bad it is so hot in there!
Time to head off for now, work is calling me!
Later!

Still working

There have been a large number of job cuts in the last couple of weeks at work, I was REALLY concerned that I would be one of those laid off, but I survived! only with God's help that is! SO many changes at the plant now, no complaints from me, I AM still there!
The early hours are going to take a while to get used to, 3:30 comes mighty stinking early! I am now a coffee addict (Like I wasn't BEFORE!) coffee keeps me going and I still enjoy my job! how cool is that?
I need to head off and find a cool spot for a while, it is even warm in the house today, some BONEHEAD left the fans on when he left for work! DOH! YA! that was ME!
Later for now!

Too tired to think?

Thursday night I didn't get too much sleep at all, only five at the max, last night I only had two hours of sleep, I was woken in the midle of the night by a raccoon peaking into my window looking for a snack, I scared him and my sister half to death yelling at him! LOL I forgot she and my nephew were in the trialer with me, my sister nearly jumped out of her skinwhen I hollared at the coon! HA! OOPS!
I am at home tonight, I need to get a good night's sleep and I can't seem to do that at the lake right now? who knows why?
The weekend has been nice, I could use a couple more like this with more sleep of course.
I did a brake job on a Thunderbird this weekend, most of the time I don't have many problems with the vehicles I work on, NOT this one, I broke the caliper frame right away! DOH! a single bolt cost $40 to repair, MAN!! sometimes things do NOT work out the way we want them too.
Later for now!

Worn to a nub!

I'm a bit worn to a nub at the moment, I am working VERY different hours at the moment and it is taking it's toll on me! I have five more weeks of these hours, now I am NOT complaining at all, I am getting more done on these hours than what I normally do, a good thing.
I spent two hours mowing the lawn today, it would have been done sooner but I spotted some wild raspberry's and stopped for a quick snack! I ended up not eating them though, I collected two cups of berries and gave them to my sister to make muffins with, the kids will enjoy that tommorow when they come over, and I will enjoy one or two with a nice hot cup of coffee! YUM!
I have a three day weekend starting today, I got the lawn mowed and have a load of laundry in the washer at the moment, I want to get it dried before I go to bed tonight. Things need done before I can PLAY!
Time to head off, to late for a cup of coffe, but NOT to late to SURF for a while!
Later!!

P.S. The picture is TOO FUNNY!!!!

OH DUH! C'MON! LOL!!

I received QUITE the surprise last night, but first things first! My birthday was just over two weeks ago, I had lost the papers I needed to renew the plates on my vehicles, so I went to the secratery f state and they helped me out and I renewed both plates, that was the 25th. WELL! last night for some odd reason I looked at my drivers licence and discovered IT had expired on my birthday also, the lady at the secretary of state LOOKED at it when I picked up my plates! LOL! and she MISSED it! DOH! SO I've been driving around on an illegal license for near THREE weeks now! OOP'S! $25 later and I am all legal.
Well, time to head off for now, I REALLY need a cup of coffee!
Later!

I don't remember THIS monument? LOL!

Monday is here.

It is Monday once again, the three day's off only a pleasant memory, now looking forward to the coming weekend! I'm hoping that this weekend will be a nice once, my neice and nephews are coming over Saturday night to play and I am going to enjoy that!
I need to get a few things ready, I need to dig up the copper tubes from the fire pit and reload them for the kids, they love rainbow campfire's. I'd like to make a nice breakfast also, I'm thinking a nice egg dish, egg, spinach, bacon, cheese and a couple of other things baked in a cupcake tin, something I haven't tried yet. I'll post he recipe when I find it.
Time to head off for now, time to SLEEP!
Later!

Camping, gardening, eating!

Oh what a NICE weekend it was! I had the oportunity to watch not one but two fireworks displays! SO nice! I was able to get like 100 pictures of what I was able to see, too bad the camera and I couldn't see the same thing though, what I was able to see was MUCH nicer than my pictures.
I am going to need to go on a DIET after this weekend also, a friend came up and ate with the family, she makes the most AWESOME mac-n-chhese! OH MOMMA! I ate like an oinknig PIG! OINK! brats, polish sausage, cheey dogs! just WAY too much good food around!
I took a couple of pictures of my garden at the lake this weekend, too bad that camera wasn't mine and I haven't had a chance to get copies! DOH! I already have around 15 tomatoes that will be ready in the next week or two YUMMY! next year I will plant green beans also, those things are TOO STINKING good fresh out of the garden! DROOL!
Eating with the family is always nice at the lake, each of us pitching in and helping to make dinner...that ALWAYS turns out very nice!
I should head off for now, coffee's calling!
Later!!

Magnifying the problem

I am really enjoying parts of my new position, last night I received a part with a defect in it, I cut out a cross section of the defect on a bandsaw, put it on a polishing machine, polished the edge of the cross section and used a camera and microscope to get a picture of the defect. The defect was only .05mm acrossed and .01mm high, so at 60X magnification it was MUCH clearer and allowed me to identify the problem.
At 60X magnification you can also see the individual layers that make up the component being examined, Ex. substrate, E-coat, prime, base and clear coat and of course the defect itself. Polishing the edge of the component takes some patience. I had two samples, one I was patient and took my time, and I was able to get a good picture of the defect, the other sample I "manhandled" and destroyed the defect which made it useless, patience is good.
The picture above is magnified approximately 300X allowing the individual layers of material to be seen, YUP! I REALLY like this job!
I'm going to head off for now, that Baptist wiskey is calling me (COFFEE!)
Later for now!

The holiday and a layoff

This weekend should be nice, it is the start of ten days off for me, I can't even remember the last time I had that many days off? YES! I will of course be at the lake for a few days, but there are many projects at the house that need to be taken care of! I would LOVE to finally paint the front room and put up new curtains, that would be great.
The economy is a real mess at the moment as everyone knows, the company I work for will be starting some major layoffs soon, down to only one shift at both facilities, but it looks like I will survive the slowdown, I hope so anyhow?
I'm kinda looking for a cheapo moped at the moment, although with the price of gas I don't think I am going to find a cheap one? 90 miles per gallon? uh..YA! I'd like one.
Time for me to head off, time for another cup of Baptist wiskey! (coffee!) LOL
Have a great one!
