Cold, cold and MORE cold!!!

YUP! it is cold here! Oh how I am ALREADY longing for spring and my trailer! more than I can say to be honest, I could use that time to relax!
Nothing new on the homefront, still no job and there isn't many jobs out there, God will provide.
Time to head off, COPS is on!

"I CAN" Man!

Tuesday dinner

Today there is a dinner at the Church, I am WAY looking forward to the food that will be there! OH YUMMY!!! there is ALWAYS good food there! and LOTS of it!
Nothing new here, still no job and no good leads on jobs either, so goes the economy!
I'm hoping to receive the replacement ram for the computers soon, I was right that the sellers had sent me high density ram instead of the low density I needed, seven sticks on their way! WOO-HOO!! POWER GOOD! five notebooks will benefit from this memory, and all five will be maxed out as far as ram goes....more ram=faster notebook!
Well, thats about it! told ya it was BORING here at the moment! I'd rather be working! BUT! that is not possible for now.
Coffee's calling!!
Later all!

"I CAN" Man!

That four letter word! "SNOW!"

I can handle the snowfall we've been getting, a half an inch at a time is OKIE DOKIE with me! Too bad it will not last though? we'll be getting MUCH more very soon.
The SODIMM's that I received that were wrong are back on their way to the seller, it must be he grabbed the wrong one's? because not ONE of them worked in the machines I was upgrading! GAK! yeah, I'm a BIT disappointed, but the right one's will be on their way soon.
Yesterday was nice, I took Junior out (My Acer One) to Wendy's and surfed the Internet there, I needed to get out in a bad way, I was feeling a bit cooped up, OK, MORE than a bit cooped up! I was going NUTTS!! (A short trip indeed)
I should receive that drive I ordered shortly, time for the 5100, it will increase the performance greatly, I can deal with that! FAST is GOOD!
Now I just need to find a TL-60, TL-62, TL-64 or TL-68 processor, I'd LOVE to have the TL-68, just can't justify the price of it! more than likely it will be a TL-62 that goes into the 5100, still a NICE upgrade!
I'm into the second cup of coffee already, it is going to be one of those day's!

Feeling better

We had a little snow yesterday, only like half an inch, but it is here! GAK! it is here......

So yup! I'm feeling better now, don't know WHAT was trying to get me but it almost did!
I will be heading to G.R. later this week to get certified for job training (I'm sure I qualify, two plants I worked at closed and sent jobs to Mexico) I would like to get training in the I.T. field, I already work on computers so I might as well go GEEK and complete the process.
I ordered some ram off E-bay and received it yesterday, of the eight sticks I ordered seven were WRONG! GAK! the ram was for five different machines that I have worked on (it would have maxed the memory out in ALL of them) I contacted the seller, hopefully I can get the replacements quickly so I can get this project done and move on to the next....
The next project of course is my laptop, the 4Gb. of ram is installed, and the 320Gb. 7200Rpm. 16Mb. cache drive is on its way!! WOO-HOO!! I only need to upgrade the CPU now! HOWEVER those can be pricey so I'm taking my time on it! I have a AMD TL-52 now and would like to upgrade to a TL-64 (A TL-60 is more likely though) DON'T replace it! UPGRADE it! LOL!
I'm not sure if I posted about it or not, but I lost my laptop to an Internet Explorer virus, I have NO idea how it is I got it, but I DID!
I was able to back up everything before I did the Acer restore, so I didn't lose anything! I have NOT however re-installed everything, that new drive is on it's way and I'll wait till then to complete that job.
After I install the new drive, I will be left with a 250Gb. drive to use as a backup drive. I only need to install it in the enclosure that holds the 160Gb. backup drive I already have, space is GOOD!
I should head off for now, coffee's calling me LOUDLY thankyou!
Later!!

Illness in the house

Yeah, there is illness in the house! both the laptop and I have a virus! GAK! somewhere along the line the laptop caught a nasty little bug that messed with Exploroer in a big way untill finaly it was getting taken over.
There is a PQ Service partition on the hard drive so I did a recovery and reinstalled all the updates. I'm not going to install everything, I have a new drive for it that will speed up the process in a big way, SPEED IS GOOD!
I also have a nasty little bug that is kicking my butt, I'm hoping to feel better soon, there are still things that need to be done here at the house, just no energy or ambition on my part.
I received the memory that I was waiting for, most of it! the ram will max out five laptops memory. Generaly a 512Mb. PC2700 SODIMM is around $30, I was able to pick them up for $14 each! a VERY good deal indeed.
If you want to speed up your computer, install and MAX out the memory! THEN!! clean it up using the freeware that is available!
1. Ad Aware 2008
2. Spybot search and destroy
3. C-cleaner
4. Auslogics disc defrag
5. Auslogics registry defrag
6. AVG free
ALSO!!! use disc cleanup! it is under accessories on XP and Vista!
This stuff is all FREE folks! FREE is GOOD! and they REALLY work!
Time to head off for now, bed is calling me!

Siting 'round

There's not much going on here right now, I won some memory on Ebay and will be installing them on a few different laptops soon. The trickle down affect will be put into play soon also, two of the laptops have 256Mb. SODIMM's in them and they will be going into another laptop when it arrives, which will be in the spring.
I'd like to do some more modding on my laptop, update the processor to a TL-64 and upgrade the hard drive to a 320Gb. 7200Rpm. 32Mb. cache, make it run like a racecar! LOL
But! I'll have to see if that is possible or not, I guess only time will tell?

HP issues

At the moment I am working on my aunts ANCIENT HP desktop, so far I have identified at least 80 infections on the machine, I BELIEVE most are gone now! I could be wrong however! LOL!
The HP is already running better, but I'd like to speed it up a bit more for my Aunt, make it run nice....not even sure what AMD processor is in it? but it is like 700 or 800Mhz. so a little goes a LONG way!
I'll post more about this poor old fella later!
'K, it'd later nd that thing was a MESS! LOT'S of spyware in it, over 80 infections in it! it took a while, but it is running once again, then it lost the video drivers, that took me an hour to fix, then I ran like the wind! LOL!
It is all set now, as good as it will get for it's age.

The dream

I woke recently, finding myself in a strange place, a cluttered place that seemed foreign to me, yet familiar and comfortable, was this my home?
It felt like I had been away for some time, there was dust on everything and clutter seemed to have taken over this homes very existence. I started cleaning in one room then the next, reclaiming what once was mine. Slowly but surely the rooms and the home began to once again look as they did before the great sleep. Each room was a battle with the dust bunny's and clutter that seemed unwilling to let go of their unyielding hold.
The outside of my home was the same, the dirt and grime of time had accumulated there also, the bright white exterior now dull and dirty, the windows cloudy and the bushes in the yard taking over and leaving me to wonder if this indeed was my home?
I battled the yard and the room's for three week's before they once again became recognizable, the faint memory of my home growing stronger with each passing battle.
Today I awoke "in my home" the last of the great battles waged in the night, the curtains are up in all the rooms now and "I am home" the great sleep is over!
There are still small bands of rogue dust bunny's hidden throughout my home clinging to their clutter, attempting to reclaim what they have lost, but I will not yield to their demands, they will not overcome, for I have WON the war! the battles are over, I am awake! and home once again!
Winter has come, but the darkness and cold cannot overtake me, I am home, it's warmth and comfort give me peace. There are many thing's to accomplish yet here, but those battles have been won also, time to finish and complete the home, time is what I now have.
Onward and forward! it is the only path! The great sleep is OVER!

Netbook surgery!

I once again opened the netbook up and performed surgery on it. This time I installed a Western Digital WD2500BEKT one of their "black" drives. This drive is a 7200Rpm. drive with a 16Meg. cache. K...so what does that mean? desktop performance in a net-book!! OH YEAH! along with the 1.536Meg.. of ram and jacking the virtual ram to 4092 on each partition, this little machine will cruise right along.
I was looking for a nice little toy to carry around, I have found it!
Later for now!

Another one down~

I completed another project today, one that I was a bit worried would turn out to be difficult, The opposite was true however. As it turns out the van I was working on was easier to work on than I though, the tierod end's came off quite easliy and the oil change was no biggie at all. The only thing that I had to put any effort into was the headlights on the van, they had yellowed out really badly and needed to be cleaned, I think the owner will be able to see a BIT better now! they are not crystal clear, but they are MUCH clearer than before.
There were no other big projects today, I think I am done with those! SWEET! LOL! well, almost! I still need to install the new idler arm on my Bravada, but that can wait if need be till there is another warm day, that could be a while yet.
I see that I will need to rake the yard up again this week, a thin layer of leaves has attached themselves to it. At least this time it will not take four day's to clean the yard up!
Later for now!

"I CAN!" Man~~

The "list"

The mental list I have of things that need to be done here at the house grows shorter with each day, I finished raking the back yard and cleaned the back porch out yesterday and BOTH were big projects!
I also vacuumed the house while baby sitting my four year old niece, she kinda liked that! LOL!
I am surprised just how much clutter I had accumulated here? CRIMANY! even though the back porch has been cleaned it will be spring before it is truely "finished" the city has a collection day where you can drop off things like old furnature, paint, metal, wood.....I have a small pile of those things that need to be recycled when I can.
I will admit, I've been so busy that I am getting a little burned out, there was just so much to get done, my house wasn't a pigpen or anything, just VERY cluttered up.
I did something for the first time since I've been laid off, I ordered pizza, a nice treat indeed that was made better by putting powdered red pepper on it, NICE and spicy! (powdered red pepper is crushed red pepper flakes put in a mill and powdered, YUMMY!)
I'll try and post a picture of all the leaves I removed from the yard, it was a bumper crop year here for them!
Later for now!
Here I are again!
I finished the two van's I was working on today as well as my Bravada's fuel filter and Mom's air filter in her van and I am WHIPPED!! and in a bit of pain LOL! the list is getting smaller and smaller! YES!!!
Guess I'll head off for now!
Later!!

"I CAN" Man

It's curtains I tell ya! curtains for ya!

I spent some time putting up curtains last night, when I had the house remodeled on the outside four...five? years ago I only put the shades back up in most of the house, there had only been cheap curtains in most of the house anyhow....I picked up some nice curtains at Wal-mart last night for $35, and the odd's and end's I needed were another $35.
I'd still like to put new curtains up in the front room, they are at least 20 years old and in need of a serious update now.
I think it was the group "2nd. Chapter of Act" that had a song "make my house feel like a home" well my house is starting to feel like a home again, I had forgotten that feeling? how can that be?ALL work and no play, that's how!
Since I was let go on the tenth, I had made a huge effort to clean and maintain the house and the surrounding yard, when I did "wake up" enough and take a good hard look at the place I could see that there were MANY things that were in need of immediate attention. I've been working on the outside of the house and in the yard now for about a week and have nearly completed my mental list of projects. I still have a day or two's work to get done, but the outside is starting to look really nice again.
I have had paint for the inside of the house for a FEW years, and as soon as the outside projects and inside projects are all done I will be painting the inside of the house....as I said...MANY things to get accomplished yet! I have the time now, I just need to keep an even keel, I don't want to burn myself out and get nothing done in the meantime.
I watched some Pixar shorts last night, there are like 14 of them total, some that I'd not viewed before, BOY did I need those laugh's!
1. Gene's game
2. Stupid bird's
3. The tin toy
4. One man band
5. Mater and the ghost light
6. Knick knack
7. Jack, Jack attack
8. Boundin
9. Luxo jr.
10.Mike's new car
11. Red's dream
12. Andie and Wally B.
13. Ckicked tennis (commercial)
These were FUN to watch!

I'll post more later, still many things to do today.
Oh SNAP! LOL! time to vacuume the house too!

Monday is here!

Well, it is Monday and you know what that mean's don't you? YUP! back to cleaning things up!
My list for the day:
Get the checks for the bill's done
Stop at the post office and send them out
Stop at city hall and pay income tax
Stop at insurance agency and pay insurance
Sort through my "library" and get rid of the books I don't need
Wipe down the dirty bookshelves
Drop of the sorted book at Goodwill
Rake and take care of the leaves in at least half of the back Yard
Go through the china cabinet and clean out the ANCIENT paper's (HA! FOUND MY CLASS RING! hadn't seen it in TEN years!).....and YES it is tight now! LOL!
That is going to be it for most of the day, I have a HUGE yard for being in the city, the back yard is 80'x140' and I did almost two thirds of it before I was spent! LOL!
I was WAY glad to find a Sobe adrenaline rush in my fridge today! I NEEDED IT!
I should head off for now, I still have some piddling to do, nothing huge, I just need a couple of things.
Have a GREAT one!!

"I CAN" man!

A change of plans

It seems that we will NOT be able to install the furnace in my brothers house, apparently if it is NOT done by a professional the home insurance company doesn't have to cover any major issue's (blame it on a bad install) SO it will be professionally done now.
The outside pf the house if finished now, I finished it today after repairing my garden hose, two hoses had broken ends (one male, one female, go figure?) so after I fixed the hoses I fired the power washer up and there were TWO more small holes in one of the hoses, same spot, so I moved a splice and NOW there are NO holes in the hose! LOL
I didn't plan on working ALL day today, but when I couldn't do the furnace I started on the other projects around the house.

Dried a load of laundry
Mopped the back room
Mopped the back entry
Vacuumed the house (Kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, spare bedroom, frontroom)
Finished power washing the outside of the house
Trimmed a shrub out back

I'm not listing things to show off, it's the only way I can remember what I've done sometimes! LOL!
I guess I should head off for now, nothing really to do, although a cup of coffee does sound good?
Later all!
