Hmm, a good title considering the time of year? LOL
I pulled out my sisters dying Dell notebook and pulled the memory and optical drive out of it thinking if one of the components was bad it would show itself...NOT! I decided for giggles to try once again and install XP back on it, I had been getting the blue screen of death, just not long enough to see the error!
When I fired it back up, lo and behold it TOOK it! I'm finishing the last of the updates at the moment. There is still the issue of the power jack being loose, I'll tear it down and see how much the local computer shop will charge me to do it right. I put a new power plug in it, the solder just didn't hold, didn't have the "proper" tools!
Can't believe how fast the year has went? Not looking forward to the four letter stuff! I will go crazy if I don't have a job yet!
Have fun everyone!

Right on time.............
This was an interesting week, I installed the last two ball joints on the Bravada and took it out to have the tie rod ends looked at so I could make an appointment to have it aligned. The rest of the front end was OK, and I ended up getting it aligned right away. Later that evening half of that business burned to the ground. It is unfortunate there was a fire, no one was hurt thankfully.
The day after I had the alignment done a loud squeal started from the left rear of the truck. As it turns out, I had a frozen caliper that burned the brake pads right off. A new caliper assembly, new pads, turned both rotors. $75 later the truck is once again whole, I am NOT complaining at all, if I had that work done it would have been more like $300 minimum! The best part is that it was EASY! I did however need to borrow one of the neighbor kids feet to help me bleed the new caliper, 7 minutes and it was done. Ball joint and brake repair time? 8 hours.
The whole point is that God provided the money and ambition for all this work just in time, that's how it has worked for the last two years now. I have saved a ton of money by doing the work myself.
I installed a new wheel bearing this week also for a friend, she was quoted $225 I was able to do it for $56, it would have been $36, but the rotor broke while I was removing it and had to be replaced. It took me an hour and a half to complete her work.
I still need to do oil changes on the coupe and truck, about $50 for both with full synthetic oil and premium filters.
I enjoy taking on these projects right now, even with looking for a job I need things to keep my mind occupied. I am surfing on a computer that I was given at the moment, the hard drive had went out on it. It took me about 5 hours to clean it all up, install the new drive and ALL of my programs on it. A little bit of effort reaped a big reward, a very nice computer!
God provides what we need, when we need it, no doubt about it!
Later all!

Project "Terminator"

A friend dropped of a older computer the other day, an Asus Terminator. Generally I can go on line and find out about even older computers. This one however seemed to elude me? After some research it turns out that this model of Asus was sold a a bare-bones unit. Once sold the buyer then upgraded it to their needs.
This computer has a 1.3Ghz AMD Duron processor, 1Gb. or ram, a DVD drive, LAN card and an "amazing" 4 USB ports! (For that time anyhow!) I'm amazed! and it is STINKING small, smaller than even the later compact models. I'm kinda curious as to how well this will run with all that ram in it? Once I get a hard drive for it I will be able to answer that question? I think it would make a great home server, so I need to find a good size drive for it.
Nothing new on the job market, it seems that no one wants to talk to me at the moment? God can! I still believe that.
Have great one!

Update and getting ready for winter
Update: I graduated the first week of August, I now hold an associates degree in Business Administration, and I'm thanking the Lord for it! It was a rough road, but God brought me through.
I'm still looking for a job, I was interviewing with GM, but I wasn't hired, I was however disappointed. God can!
I'm preparing for winter by getting those jobs I know will be a pain done. I finished installing the new ball joints into the Bravada, it took a total of seven hours to complete, and I saved hundreds in labor costs. I may need to do some PM on the rear caliper slides yet, I don't want them to freeze up on me again, too expensive even if I do it myself.
I washed, waxed, cleaned the tires and rims, and vacuumed both vehicles out today, they need a really good cleaning before the snow starts falling.
I've been working on a couple of projects also, I was given a computer that is only a year and a half old, the hard drive was bad. It took only a little while to find another drive and I had the computer up and running. It is a nice machine, a gift from God.
The other machine that I am working on has given me a LOAD of trouble. A major virus infected everything, so badly that I had a hard time re-loading windows on it. Finally after some creative disc swapping I was able to format the drive and re-install windows. So far I am at 160 updates, with MORE to go! LOL!
So, camping season is over, and I still need to clean the trailer, lots of things to keep me busy beyond looking for a job, THAT is first and foremost on my list.
Keeping busy even without a job......can't wait to get back to work!
